The Anguilla Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACOCI) organized and hosted its first Breakfast Bites, a series of three (3), one hour financial workshops held over three (3) weeks.
The topics covered were:
- Workshop 1 – Keeping Records, a must in the 21st Century
- Workshop 2 – Finding Finance – Raising Funds for your Business
- Workshop 3 – The Difference Between Profit and Cash
The goal of the workshops was to equip participants with a greater understanding of financial terminology and how financial information is important to small business owners.
The first workshop, on record keeping, was ably facilitated by Mr. Girdon Connor. Mr. Connor’s presentation highlighted the importance of recordkeeping, the different types of records every business should maintain, how records should be stored and how to determine the type of software that would work best for each respective business’s record keeping needs.
The guest speaker for the second workshop, ‘Finding Finance – Raising Funds for your Business,’ was Ms. Heather Richardson from the Anguilla Development Board. Ms. Richardson aptly delivered an engaging session expounding on areas such as the different financial options available in Anguilla, the requirements for financing such as a business loan, security and/or guarantor and financial reporting.
The final workshop, on Profit and Cash, was well presented by Ms. Nzingha Banks from The Difference, Accounting & Business Solutions. During the informative presentation, participants gained an understanding of cashflow, the different types of profit and the importance of keeping proper accounting records, securing financing and utilizing proper forecasting tools.
Overall, the workshops were very well received and achieved outstanding evaluations by the participants. The workshops were held at the TeaBox Lounge in South Hill. Looking forward, the Anguilla Chamber of Commerce will continue to offer support and valuable opportunities like these types of trainings to its members.
