and operation, project management and Wi-Fi services.
The ACOCI workshop entitled Bits and Bytes: The Dos and Don’ts for your business in this evolving digital
age was hosted by Mr. Jibri Lewis. Mr. Lewis is the Business Development Officer at NCDS.
The Bits and Bytes workshop was designed to share best practices in Information Technology (IT) to help
businesses protect themselves. The goal was to help each business determine if their computer systems
are tools or liabilities.
The one-hour workshop which was delivered over Zoom was divided into three topic areas: Security
Maintenance and Advancements.
Under Security, Mr. Lewis discussed common security breaches, password policies, security practices
when surfing the web and data vulnerabilities. He noted that many businesses do not spend enough
time on security for their computer systems.
The topics discussed under Maintenance were the causes of wear and tear on your computer systems,
proper setup of your IT systems and maintenance of your operating System (OS).
Mr. Lewis shared that maintenance is an area that many businesses ignore. He explained the importance
of maintenance and highlighted that IT needs to be maintained and updated for both security and
longevity purposes.
The final topic for the workshop discussed emerging technologies which could be useful for businesses.
Mr. Lewis encouraged businesses to learn more about and take advantage of current advancements.
A range of ACOCI businesses took advantage of the opportunity to register for this important and timely
workshop to learn more about protecting their IT systems. Participants listened attentively and asked
pertinent questions.
