Backing Winners

We are delighted to introduce a new and exciting project designed to enhance the operational capacity of our member companies called Backing Winners Anguilla.

This programme has been financed by the Caribbean Development Bank, through its Caribbean Technological Consultancy Services (CTCS) Network.

Backing Winners Anguilla is a twelve (12) month programme that offers FREE business advice and FREE training to twenty eligible (20) members.

What the Programme Offers

  • Training Sessions

    • Business Planning

    • Record Keeping

    • Marketing

    • Human Resource Planning

    • Customer Service

  • One to one advice and support from a Business Adviser, half a day per month for 10 months.
  • Help with business documents

    • Business Plan and Cash Flow forecast.

    • Basic Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) manual.

    • Customer service standards guidelines.

    • Organisational chart and human resource plan.

    • Marketing plan

  • Two full days consultancy per topic from a Specialist Business Adviser on:
    • Finance
    • Marketing

This is a fantastic opportunity for the beneficiary businesses to access free advice and training resulting in enhanced competitiveness and sustainability. The programme provides equal opportunity for the capacity building of both male owned and female owned businesses. 

Acceptance Criteria

  • Operating within the agriculture, fishing, industry and tourism sectors.
  • Between 1-10 years in operation.
  • Registered business.
  • Business owner is 18 years and over.
  • Have access to internet and necessary devices to participate in online training.
  • Have a physical location.
  • Products/services with features/characteristics that stand out from competitors.
  • Have an existing market or identified potential market for products/services.
  • Must be or committed to becoming a member of the Chamber.
  • Must employ 2-25 employees, inclusive of the owner.
  • Willing to commit to the 12 month timeframe and activities (training and adviser sessions).
  • Willing to share information with Trainers and Business Advisors.

As part of the structured Backing Winners programme we are looking for the following professionals to join our team:

General Business Advisers (Five Posts)
  • Graduate or post graduate degree or equivalent in any field related to business management.
  • At least three years’ experience in training/mentoring in business management related field. Successful record of a minimum of three years in a senior position in Industry/Commerce or managing own business.
  • Experience in establishing and running own successful business will be an added advantage.
Specialist Business Advisers in Finance and Marketing (One post per subject)
  • Graduate or post graduate degree in Business Finance/Marketing or equivalent.
  • At least three years’ experience in training/mentoring in specific specialist field. Successful record of a minimum of five years in a senior position in Industry/Commerce or managing own business. Experience in establishing and running own successful business will be an added advantage.
Trainers
  • Graduate or post graduate degree or equivalent in specific field related to business management (Finance, Human Resource Management, Customer Service, and Marketing).
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in delivering training in the required areas.
Trainers will be required to deliver workshops in:
  • Business Planning
  • Record Keeping
  • Marketing
  • Human Resource Planning
  • Customer Services

Members are invited to join the Backing Winners Anguilla programme, a twelve-month project which will provide free business advice, free support and free training to twenty (20) member companies.

The programme is aimed at:

  • Improving the knowledge and skills of the beneficiary businesses
  • Enhancing the operational capacity of the beneficiary businesses including access to finance.
The Backing Winners programme provides equal opportunity for the capacity building of both male owned and female owned businesses.  Members are invited to take part in this exciting opportunity who have products or services that stand out from competitors and:
  • Operate within the agriculture, fishing, industry and tourism sectors
  • Have been trading between 1 – 10 years
  • Employ between 2 – 25 people (including the owner)
  • Have an existing market or identified potential market for products/services.
