Earlier this month, the Anguilla Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACOCI) held a successful Annual General Meeting, where three new members were appointed to serve on the Board of Directors. A follow-up meeting and vote amongst the appointed members of the Board has determined that Ms. Sandra Lovell, former secretary of the Board, will lead as the new President of the ACOCI Board of Directors. New Board members, Ms. Heather Wallace and Mrs. Latoya Hobbs-Nurse were elected as Vice President and Secretary respectively. Mrs. Felicia Hill was re-elected to continue to serve in her current role as Treasurer.
The full newly elected Board of Directors are:
President – Ms. Sandra Lovell (Alliance Insurance Services Limited)
Vice President – Ms. Heather Wallace (Essentials Stationery and Gift Store)
Treasurer – Mrs. Felicia Hill (Hillcomspec Consultancy Ltd)
Secretary – Mrs. Latoya Hobbs-Nurse (Iustitia Law Chambers)

Ms. Sandra Lovell, newly appointed president, expressed her excitement to serve in this new capacity and shared her goals for the upcoming term. She stated, “We want to encourage all businesses of Anguilla to become members of the Chamber. The Chamber cannot grow and expand without our members. We are the voice of the business community and we are very interested in what our members have to say. Our aim is to set productive and meaningful goals that will benefit the business community and we will work to accomplish these goals in the new term.”
Ms. Heather Wallace, newly elected Board member and Vice President, shared similar sentiments. She noted, “I am very happy to be in this role. I believe we have a great, dynamic board of directors and together we hope to tackle the challenges that ACOCI currently faces and really make a difference in the business community.”
Mrs. Felicia Hill, Treasurer, expressed her gratitude to continue to serve in her current role. She highlighted the financial and budgetary constraints which the Chamber continues to struggle with and the need to ‘tap into as much resources as we can to motivate the business community to realize their fullest potential.’ She further stated, “We would like to ensure liaison with the Government of Anguilla to get certain policies in place so that the Chamber can accomplish some of its goals. One thing we would really like to accomplish is the establishment of an incubator programme. Once we secure the necessary funding for the Chamber, we will be able to transform Anguilla which will not only generate revenue for local businesses and government it will also result in a better economy in the long run.”
Mrs. Latoya Hobbs-Nurse, newly elected Board member and Secretary, shared her pleasure to get started with the work of the Chamber. She stated, “We know there is a lot to do but together we can do all things. We hope to work towards getting the Chamber to become more semi-autonomous and we look forward to the Chamber playing a pivotal role in the Anguillian society.”
